Been a while..

Have been away for a while in Europe - Amsterdam, Belgium and Luxembourg. It was a company incentive trip which after being with the company for 6.5 years, I get to go on my second trip. It was fun getting to know the colleagues as there isn't much opportunity for us to really mingle and get to know each other. The weather was generally cold. I underestimated it, but I would very much prefer cold than hot. Temperature was usually in the 0 to maybe 5-6 degrees celcius. Occasionally in some areas, I believed it went down to -3. But all in all, Europe is great for scenaries and all. Will have to go through all 551 photos to see which ones to blog. Till then.... see ya

Smart aleck!!!

A Primary School teacher was having trouble with one of her students. The teacher asked, "Harry, what is your problem?"

Harry answered, "I'm too smart for the Primary 1. My sister is in Primary 3 and I'm smarter than she is! I think I should be in Primary 3 too!"

The teacher took Harry to the principal's office.

While Harry waited in the outer office, the teacher explained to the principal what the situation was. The principal told the teacher he would give the boy a test and if he failed to answer any of his questions he was to go back to the Primary 1, and behave. The teacher agreed. Harry was brought in. The conditions were explained, and Harry agreed to take the test.

Principal: "What is 3 x 3?"
Harry: "9"

Principal: "What is 6 x 6?"
Harry: "36"

And so it went with every question the principal thought a Primary 1 student should know.
The principal looks at the teacher and tells her, "I think Harry can go to Primary 3."
The teacher says to the principal, "May I ask him some tougher questions?"
The principal and Harry both agree.

Teacher: "What does a cow have four of that I have only two ?"
Harry: "Legs."

Teacher: "What is in your pants that you have but I do not have?"
(The principal wondered, why does she ask such a question!)
Harry: "Pockets."

Teacher: "What does a dog do that a man steps into?"
Harry: "Pants."

Teacher: "What's starts with a C and ends with a T, and it is hairy, oval, delicious and contains thin whitish liquid?"
(The principal's eyes open really wide and before he could stop the answer....)
Harry: "Coconut."

Teacher: "What goes in hard and pink then comes out soft and sticky?"
Harry: "Bubblegum."

Teacher: "What does a man do standing up, a woman do sitting down and dog do on three legs?"
(The principal's eyes open really wide and before he could stop the answer...)
Harry: "Shake hands."

Teacher: "Now I will ask some 'Who am I' sort of questions, okay?"

Teacher: "You stick your poles inside me. You tie me down to get me up. I get wet before you do." Who am I??
Harry: "A Tent."

Teacher: "A finger goes in me. You fiddle with me when you're bored. The best man always has me first." What am I??
(Principal was looking restless and a bit tense)
Harry: "A Wedding Ring."

Teacher: "I come in many sizes. When I'm not well, I drip. When you blow me, I feel good." What am I??
Harry: "A Nose."

Teacher: "I have a stiff shaft. My tip penetrates. I come with a quiver." What am I??
Harry: "An Arrow."

Teacher: "What word starts with an 'F' and ends in 'K' that means a lot of excitement?"
Harry: "Firetruck."

The principal breathed a sigh of relief and told the teacher, "Put this ass in Primary 6 ! I got the last 10 questions all wrong myself."

An apple a day keeps the doctor away...

Eversince I made the switch over to the Macintosh, I have not looked back.... they are great machines. A little more investment, but they are great. I have a ibook G4 14" at the moment and it has already served me 2 years. With a glitch in the hard disk some time this year. But I still feel they are great machines.

Look at my wish list........ my next machine would probably be a powerbook 15" (in time to come I guess).... sleek, powerful and a real good looker. Of course the iMac G5 attract me too. So cool. Must give it to the people at apple.

An early celebration

It was 5th November 2005. The group decided to have an early celebration for the two Ben's (little and big ben) birthdays. We decided to have the "makan" session at Jerry's grill at Jalan Kayu.

The group.... notice anything about the picture??

Their supposedly famous mushrooms. They tasted quite good actually.

The delicious cake from angies the choice.... it tasted quite good. We were all comparing it with LANAs. Someone did comment that it is still not as good as LANAs.

The Bens..... But I think little Ben is getting a little "big" (fat??)

Thanks guys for the company, food and fun! Deeply appreciated. Cheers!

Learn mandarin, and know some treatments in mandarin as well...

My first question is.... what on earth are these??

Had a funny story about these red "polka dots". I went to see a chinese physician on the 30th October 2005 (sunday). Went in and told her that I had frequent headaches when I wake up. She asked to see my tongue and took my pulse. She asked a few more questions like work stress and all. She then told me she was going to do something to me in the next room. I thought it was a massage.... boy was I jumping for joy. Went in next door and took off my shirt. I asked if I should take off my jeans too? She said no no no. I lay on my front as instructed, then I saw the cups. She very effectively placed them on me. S was really laughing when she found out about it. She had just arrived on the scene. It was painful man... getting worse by the minute. Some dots were flaming red man. The story does not end here! After 15 min of endurance and complaining to my wife, she finally took them off. Then the chinese physician asked me if I felt relaxed? Of course I was, with all those cups finally off.... She then took out her needles and then I realised I was in for acupuncture. Well, I guess as long as it treats my headaches. Lemme see. I had 2 needles in between my index fingers and thumbs, 2 in my temples, 2 in my cheeks, i on the top of my head and I think 2 on my forehead. I had a little trouble talking to S but I had 20 min to kill. Now I am on some medication that smells and tastes not that great, but like I keep telling myself, as long as it cures my headaches!!

I guess learning mandarin is just the tip of the iceburg, you need to know what certain treatments are in mandarin!!
